Ziva Trau was born in Northern Israel and moved to Marin County in 1990. She received her BA in History with a Teaching Credential at Seminar HaKibbutzim in Tel Aviv. Her initial work experience in the US was at a small Jewish day school in Santa Rosa, twenty years ago. There, she taught Hebrew and Judaic Studies for grades 1st-8th. With her experience, Ziva opened her own afternoon Hebrew school in Santa Rosa and Sebastopol in 1997. She has also worked at various synagogues, such as Shomrei Torah in Santa Rosa, Congregation Kol Shofar in Tiburon, Netivot Shalom in Berkeley and currently works at Congregation Emanu-El in San Francisco. Ziva has taught eleven summer sessions of Ulpan at USF, working with many middle and high school students. She is a full-time teacher at Oakland Hebrew Day School, where she has taught students from 1st through 8th grades. She currently teaches Hebrew and Judaic Studies, and is a mentor teacher for their Judaic Studies team. Ziva lives in Richmond, CA and has two children, Danit and Leedan. She enjoys hiking, gardening, and water sports.
