  My Story

  Shalom everyone! My name is Liat and I was born and raised in Rehovot, Israel. I graduated from Hadassah College in Jerusalem as an industrial designer. I worked for a short time as an exhibition designer and quickly moved to the field of graphic design. After marrying in 2000, I moved to New York where I continue to work as a packaging designer in Brooklyn. 4 years ago, I opened my blog “Food for Thoughts” where I express my love for baking, making food, and everything in between. I host workshops and chefs in my home kitchen. When Covid hit, I started hosting Zoom workshops for the Israeli and Jewish American communities. I believe in seasonal local cuisine and venturing into neighboring cuisines for a new and different taste of our own.

  שלום לכולם! שמי ליאת שירית. נולדתי וגדלתי ברחובות, ישראל.
  סיימתי לימודים במכללת הדסה כמעצבת עיצוב תעשייתי. את דרכי התחלתי כמעצבת תערוכות ומהר מאד עברתי לתחום העיצוב הגרפי. בינואר 2000 עברתי לניו יורק, ועבדתי מספר שנים כמעצבת אריזות. לפני 4 שנים בערך פתחתי את הבלוג ”אוכל למחשבה“ שם הבאתי לביטוי את האהבה הגדולה שיש בי למטבח, אפיה, בישול וכל מה שביניהם. אני מארחת סדנאות אוכל וארוחות בידי שפים ישראלים, במטבח הביתי שלי. עם פרוץ הקורונה התחלתי להעביר גם סדנאות בזום לקהילה הישראלית והיהודית אמריקאית. אני מאמינה גדולה בחומרי גלם עונתיים ומקומיים וזליגה למטבחים שכנים שיכולים להטיל אור חדש על המטבח היהודי ישראלי.
