    My Story

Shalom, my name is Gil. I was born and raised in Israel, served in the IDF, and later worked as an analyst for the Israeli Defense Ministry. I came to the U.S. on a Fulbright Fellowship, and completed my PhD degree in History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Since then, I have taught at various universities and colleges across the U.S., such as Washington University in St. Louis and Oberlin College.

I served as the Director of the Institute on American Jewish -Israeli Relations at the American Jewish University (Los Angeles), and currently serve as Associate Professor of Jewish Studies at the University of Arizona. I am the author of a book and have published numerous articles on a range of different topics. I like to travel both in the U.S. and abroad, and to laugh (mostly about silly things).
