Zikaron BaSalon – “Despite everything I won – My Father’s story” with Menachem Etkin

On Yom HaShoah – Holocaust Memorial Day, join us for an afternoon with Menachem Etkin who will share his father’s story, Michael, who was the sole survivor of his entire family.

Michael was the sole survivor of the entire broad Etkin family. He escaped alone from the burning ghetto in the North of Belarus when he was only 11 years old and joined the Partisans in the huge forests of Belarus.
It’s an amazing survival story and bravery.

Michael’s story is told by his oldest son, Menachem Etkin, who lives in Israel.
In the last 17 years, Menachem has been speaking and sharing his father’s story in front of thousands of students, soldiers, and adults fully voluntarily.

Zikaron BaSalon (Hebrew for “memories in the living room”) offers a new, meaningful, and intimate way to commemorate this day and address its implications through discussions among family, friends, and guests. It is a unique and authentic tradition of people gathering together to open their hearts to the stories of the survivors and second generation of survivors.

The event is open to all community members from 7th grade and up. We encourage parents and children to attend together.
