B’nai/B’not Mitzvah Service Project

In this B’nai/B’not Mitzvah course, students will be learning about the meaning behind the B’nai/B’not Mitzvah year, by implementing Jewish and Israeli core values, such as Social Justice, Tikkun Olam and Mitzvot. We will utilize the Hebrew calendar for creating context with other life cycle events. The B’nai/B’not Mitzvah service project includes 8 sessions.

We will talk about Tikkun Olam – social justice, community building, the value of giving, identity and belonging, and the meaning of Mitzvah. We will gain tools of how to contribute and volunteer in our local community.

In our course we will:
*Learn about Tikkun Olam, Justice, Tzedakah and the meaning of giving.
*Empower teens to become community builders and be active in their own communities.
*Gain tools for engaging in service projects in their local community.

Class #1 – The place of Bar/Bat Mitzvah in Jewish life cycle.
Class #2 – Circles of identity, belonging and values (jewish and my family).
Class # 3 –Tikkun Olam, Tzedakah, Gmilut Chasadim
Class # 4 – My place and my role in my community. Can I make a difference? Gain tools for community service.
Class # 5 – Leadership – type of leaders? Can I be one?
Class # 6 – Share ideas for Community Service.
Class # 7 – Decision making.
Class # 8 – Celebration and sharing our experiences.
